The Challenge: Finding a scalable, accessible way to deliver CME with limited staff and budget.
The Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA) has a global mission to promote health, prevent disease, and provide compassionate care across communities in need. But for a small team managing continuing medical education (CME), translating that mission into scalable digital learning came with some key considerations.
Before adopting a learning management system, IMANA relied heavily on in-person CME activities delivered through joint and direct events. After COVID, the shift to online education demanded a more accessible and scalable platform, but with limited staff and budget, launching and maintaining a compliant CME program felt daunting. As a one-person team, achieving ACCME accreditation was already a major lift. After accreditation, the next hurdle was finding a sustainable way to create, manage, and market content.
IMANA wanted to find a learning solution that could do more with less by supporting scalability, flexibility, and long-term sustainability.
The Solution: Adopting functional, flexible, and efficient LMS to scale up education programs.
In 2020, IMANA adopted EthosCE—a decision driven by the need for integrated ACCME reporting, enduring and live course delivery, and ease of use for both staff and learners. EthosCE stood out as a platform that could handle the full CME lifecycle, from course registration and attendance tracking to assessments and certifications.
One of the biggest wins was the integration of Warpwire for video content delivery. Instead of building complex SCORM modules or relying on static PDFs, IMANA now empowers speakers to record presentations as standalone videos. These are uploaded directly to the LMS, allowing learners to engage with content on their own time. Completion requires learners to watch 85–95% of the video before taking a quiz, which has proven especially effective for IMANA’s diverse audience.
IMANA also strategically repurposes content from live events and webinars to build out its LMS library, minimizing overhead and maximizing impact.
By bundling CME into larger events like annual retreats and leveraging joint sponsorship opportunities, IMANA reduces costs while expanding access. The IMANA team also stresses the value of asking the right questions when exploring LMS options.
The Results: A sustainable LMS that extends IMANA’s mission and multiplies its reach.
With EthosCE, IMANA has transitioned from a fully in-person CME provider to a digital-first organization offering both live and enduring education. They now have a flexible, scalable platform that supports their mission of delivering high-quality healthcare education to communities around the world.
- Scalable infrastructure: A lean team can now manage CME for a global audience
- Greater accessibility: On-demand video content is easier to consume, especially for older learners
- Cost efficiency: Strategic content reuse and partnerships keep programming sustainable
“Education is a critical part of how we advance health equity and empower providers worldwide. With EthosCE and Warpwire, we’re able to extend our reach and make continuing education more accessible without sacrificing quality.”
