The Challenge: Delivering a Seamless, Engaging, and Mobile-Friendly Learning Experience
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) represents a diverse and dynamic community of more than 25,000 stakeholders, including 13,500 design members, 6,000 partner representatives, and 5,500 student members across chapters nationwide. With a large population of younger members and geographically dispersed base, ASID recognized that delivering meaningful, accessible, and visually compelling educational content online was no longer optional. It was essential.
ASID identified several critical requirements they wanted to address with their new learning management system:
- Seamless integration with ASID’s web presence and database to create a unified user experience.
- A visually appealing and intuitive design that reflected the aesthetics valued by the design community and allowed members to easily navigate and access their content.
- A mobile-first experience, recognizing that many members would engage with content on phones or tablets.
- Support for high-quality on-demand content that was well-developed, professionally delivered, and easy to access.
The existing LMS lacked flexibility, forced staff to rely on external vendors for even small updates, and fell short in delivering the design-focused, intuitive experience ASID envisioned for its members.
The Solution: A Custom-Designed, Integrated, and Flexible LMS
After an extensive and thorough RFP process, ASID selected Cadmium’s award-winning learning management system (LMS) Elevate to power its educational offerings. This decision was driven by Elevate’s flexibility and the ability to fully customize the design to ASID’s specifications.

A second critical factor was the seamless integration between Elevate and ASID’s association management system (AMS), ACGO Software. This integrated streamlined the user experience, eliminated redundancies, and allowed members to move effortlessly between ASID’s main website and learning portal.

Today, ASID delivers a robust portfolio of on-demand programs through its new ASID Academy, featuring courses in Health and Wellness, Business of Design, Workplace Trends, and several other core topics.

The Results: Greater Control, Expanded Content, and Future-Ready Growth
Transitioning to Elevate empowered ASID’s team to fully own and manage their learning site. Previously, staff were reliant on an external platform host to make updates, upload new content, or even access reports (which often resulted in delays and missed opportunities).
With control brought in-house, ASID can now keep the site fresh with updated content, continuously improve the user experience, and extract the data they need to measure education outcomes and guide future strategy. Elevate delivered exactly what ASID envisioned: a modern, branded, and highly functional online learning environment tailored to its audience’s needs.
ASID has seen tremendous potentioal to grow its offering further, attract more users, and experiment with innovative formats. Planned enhancements include: adding certifications and digital badges, expanding the webinar catalog, exploring virtual classroom experiences, and introducing other creative resources such as podcasts within Elevate.
